Color help
Look at it on your own wall before you decide
A color chip under store lights tells you very little. We put large sample patches on your walls, near the window and away from it, and you look at them in the morning and in the evening. Most people know by the second day.

How it goes
Choosing colors in four steps

Start with what stays
Floors, counters and big furniture don't change. Their undertones decide which whites and greys work.

Pick two or three
Choose a few chips you like, and one you don't expect to.

Test on the wall
Sample patches on two walls, looked at over a day or two.

Write the count down
The number of colors goes on the estimate. A fourth one later is a new line.
Questions
Questions about colors
Can you help with colors?
Yes. We put sample patches on your own walls, and you look at them morning and evening before you decide. There's more on the color help page.
How many coats, and which sheen?
Two coats of finish on walls and ceilings, with primer first where the wall needs it. Flat or matte for ceilings, eggshell for most walls, satin or semi-gloss for trim and doors. The estimate names the sheen for each surface.
Who buys the paint, and which brand?
We buy it and name the paint line on the estimate. If you have a color from a particular store, bring the chip and we'll match it. Ask for the product data sheet and we'll send it.
What is in the written estimate?
Nine lines: surfaces and areas, repairs, coats, products and sheens, number of colors, protection and cleanup, schedule, payment schedule and warranty. Each one is filled in for your house, not left as a general phrase.
Not sure which color yet?
Say so on the form. Ray can bring samples to the walk-through.
